CHISINAU, June 22 (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) -- Romania’s prime minister-designate, Adrian Vestea, on Monday presented the government’s programme and the list of ministers for the new Cabinet to parliament, announcing that he had received support from the Social Democratic Party (SDP), reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.
"I have submitted to parliament the government programme and the list of ministers for the Cabinet I am proposing for Romania. This is a necessary step to put an end to the period of uncertainty and to restore stability, predictability, and the normal functioning of institutions in the country," Vestea wrote on social media.
The new government will focus on five priorities: ensuring political stability, accelerating the absorption of European funds, maintaining economic stability, investing in infrastructure projects, and developing strategic projects in the field of national security, Vestea said.
The decision to endorse Vestea, the first vice-chair of the National Liberal Party (NLP), was made on Sunday at a meeting of the SDP. Despite the NLP leadership's official confirmation of its refusal to form a coalition with left-wing forces, the proposed executive body includes representatives of Social Democrats and NLP members loyal to Vestea.
Romanian media reported that the approval of the Cabinet’s composition remained undecided.
