KUALA LUMPUR, June 22 (Bernama) -- Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil has congratulated Erwin Khairul Ahmad on his appointment as the new director-general of the Information Department (JaPen).
Fahmi also congratulated Wan Saidatul Shafina Mohd Amin on her appointment as the deputy director-general (Digital Content) at the Information Department.
"May you continue to serve with dedication, wisdom and high spirit, thereby strengthening the role of the Information Department as an effective medium for delivering information to the people,” he said.
Fahmi also expressed his appreciation to former JaPen director-general Julina Johan for her services, dedication and contributions throughout her leadership of the department.
The Public Service Department (JPA), in a statement today, said the letters of appointment for the new postings of Erwin Khairul and Wan Saidatul Shafina were presented by the director-general of Public Service, Tan Sri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz.
Meanwhile, JaPen said in a statement today that Erwin Khairul, 50, holds a Bachelor of Mass Communication (Hons) in Broadcasting and a Master of Arts in Media and Information Warfare Studies from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), adding that he began his career in the public service as an information officer in 2001.
With extensive knowledge in the fields of issue management, psychological operations and cyber media communications, he has also held various important positions, including chief assistant director of JaPen’s Psychological Operations and Issue Management Division and deputy director of the Cyber Media Division.
Erwin Khairul has also served as director of the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur Information Department, secretary of the Strategic Communications Division at the Ministry of Communications and deputy director-general (Digital Content) of JaPen.
He is also vice-president of the Institute of Public Relations Malaysia (IPRM), a leading body that promotes professionalism in Malaysia’s public relations industry.
"With 25 years of significant experience in the field of information and strategic communications, his appointment is expected to further strengthen JaPen’s role as a more outstanding and credible leader in government communications,” it added.
