BATU PAHAT, June 25 (Bernama) -- A total of 214 high-achieving 2025 Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) students in the district today received special contributions from the Prime Minister’s Office in recognition of their achievements.

Political Secretary to the Prime Minister, Datuk Azman Abidin, said the contribution involved former students from 16 secondary schools in the district and was aimed at motivating recipients to pursue higher education.

Azman said he hoped the recipient would maintain their academic excellence and set a positive example for other students.

"This programme aims to motivate everyone, and it will be continued depending on available funding, with plans to expand it to other locations.

"This contribution is also a way for the government to demonstrate its care and commitment toward empowering education, as well as recognising student achievements," he told reporters after the 2025 STPM Top Achievers Award Ceremony at the Batu Pahat District Education Office auditorium today.

One of the recipients, 20-year-old Afida Auni Airulnizam, a former student of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Tun Sardon in Rengit, expressed her gratitude for the contribution, describing it as both a meaningful recognition and a motivation to continue her studies.

As the youngest of two children, she looks up to her older brother, who is a university student, as her inspiration. Looking ahead, she aims to follow in his footsteps and pursue sports science if she secures a tertiary spot.

Former SMK Tun Ismail student Muhd Ammar Firdaus Mohd Fadzil, 20, also welcomed the initiative, noting that the contribution would help ease the financial burden of preparing for higher education.
