KUALA LUMPUR, June 29 (Bernama) -- Federal Territories Minister Hannah Yeoh today congratulated former prison officer S. Thiyagaraj on his appointment to the Kuala Lumpur City Advisory Board.

In a statement, Hannah said she hoped Thiyagaraj would carry out his duties with dedication for the benefit of city residents.

"All the best in carrying out this trust with full integrity, professionalism and commitment.

"I am confident he will properly execute his role as a Kuala Lumpur City Advisory Board member, providing views and advice to the Mayor for the benefit of city folk," Hannah said.

The minister had earlier witnessed the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur, Datuk Seri Fadlun Mak Ujud, presenting Thiyagaraj with the appointment letter.

She said the Kuala Lumpur City Advisory Board plays a vital role by providing the Mayor with views and counsel on matters related to the city's administration and development.

In light of this, she said each board member bears significant responsibility to strengthen city governance, making it more efficient, transparent, and responsive to public needs.

According to Hannah, Thiyagaraj's career with the Prisons Department spanned from 2005 to 2023, during which he served as an Assistant Superintendent of Prisons in the Technical Intelligence and Investigation Unit.
