Nafuzi Returns For Second Stint As TFC Head Coach

KUALA NERUS, June 30 (Bernama) -- Mohd Nafuzi Mohd Zain is back for a second stint as head coach of Terengganu FC (TFC) for the new Malaysia League (M-League) season.

Terengganu Football Club Sdn Bhd (TFCSB) confirmed the appointment of the 48-year-old, who previously coached the team from 2019-2022, via a statement released today.

It said that Nafuzi, the former coach of the National Under-23 squad, has signed a two-year contract effective from July 2026 to May 2028.

“Nafuzi’s return can be likened to a homecoming. This appointment marks the return of a coach who is synonymous with TFC.

“Nafuzi is no stranger within the TFC family as he produced good results during his first stint as the team’s head coach,” it said, pointing to how Nafuzi led TFC to emerge as runners-up in the FA Cup and Super League in 2022, finishing behind Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) on both occasions.

His return is seen as a timely decision as TFC are currently going through a rebuilding phase with a more focused and competitive direction.

“Nafuzi has already begun identifying several foreign and local players, as well as members of the coaching staff, to build a strong squad. With his extensive experience in both local and international football, TFC are confident that he is the most suitable individual to lead the team,” it said.
