ALOR SETAR, June 14 (Bernama) -- The Kedah Weightlifting Association (PABNK) have set their five lifters a three-medal target in the Malaysia Games (SUKMA) 2024 in Sarawak in August.

PABNK president Yahaya Sani said they are targeting a gold, a silver and a bronze from the five - three women and two men - at the Aug 17-24 SUKMA.

The three women lifters are Nur Alyaa Nabilah Ahmad in the 87-kilogramme (kg) category, Nur Syazwani Radzi (64kg) and Nur Syahmina Muhd Salmi (45kg). The two men are Mohammad Amin Hakimi Mohd Shukry (61kg) and Mohammad Naim Haron (55kg).

"All the lifters are undergoing intensive training at the Kedah State Sports Council Weightlifting Training Centre. Trainings are held daily in the morning and evening. On Thursday, training is limited to the morning only while Friday is a rest day for them,” he told Bernama here today.

Yahaya based their target on the state's achievements in the 2022 edition in Kuala Lumpur, where Nur Syazwani bagged gold in the women's 64kg category and Masturah Kamarudin clinched a bronze in the women's 59kg event.
