4 CARMAKERS IN S. KOREA TO RECALL SOME 457,000 VEHICLES

SEOUL, June 26 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- Four domestic and foreign carmakers in South Korea will voluntarily recall some 457,000 vehicles for manufacturing defects, the transport ministry said on Wednesday, reported Xinhua.

According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Hyundai Motor will recall 236,518 units of two different models, including G80, for design flaw in the engine starter motor.

Poor durability in the hydraulic electronic control unit (HECU) has prompted the recall of 37,169 units of two Hyundai models, including Maxcruz. Additionally, 18,397 units of Hyundai's Santa Fe hybrid version will be recalled due to software error in the electronic brake system.

Meanwhile, Kia Corp will recall 157,188 units of Sportage for poor durability in the HECU that poses a fire risk.

Volkswagen Group Korea will rectify a software error in the information and electronic control system in 4,886 units of ID.4 82kWh model, while Tesla Korea will take corrective action on 2,819 units of four models, including Model 3, due to defective seatbelt warning system.

Vehicle owners can visit repair and service centres to replace the faulty parts free of charge.
