KUALA LUMPUR, July 5 (Bernama) -- The National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) is offering cash prizes, with a total value of RM100,000, to depositors of its National Education Savings Scheme (Simpan SSPN) through its Cabutan WOW! Merdeka 2024 campaign.
It said the campaign, which runs from July 1 to Aug 31 this year, is open to Simpan SSPN Prime and Simpan SSPN Plus depositors, and offers one main prize of RM10,000 and 180 consolation prizes of RM500 each.
PTPTN, in a statement here today, said the corporation’s efforts in cultivating savings is in line with the National Day theme for 2024, ‘Malaysia MADANI: Jiwa Merdeka’.
"The organisation of this campaign is an effort to foster a savings culture among parents at an early age in their children's lives for the purpose of higher education,” said the statement.
"This will reduce dependence on study loans. Later, when the children grow up, they will be 'free' from applying for education loans to continue their studies" the PTPTN statement said.
PTPTN said depositors who make a deposit of RM50 in Simpan SSPN Prime will receive one draw while a deposit of RM50 in the Simpan SSPN Plus account is automatically eligible for two draws.
“More interestingly, the double draw advantage is also given to myPTPTN users. SSPN Prime Save depositors who make a deposit of RM50 through myPTPTN or via salary deductions or direct debit, will get five draws.
"While Simpan SSPN Plus depositors who make a deposit of RM50 through myPTPTN or through salary deductions or direct debit will qualify for 10 draws," said the statement.
Meanwhile, PTPTN chairman Datuk Norliza Abdul Rahim said depositors will qualify for various privileges and benefits through Simpan SSPN, in addition to getting a chance to win lucrative prizes while participating in the campaign.
Based on records, until May 31, 2024, SSPN Savings deposits received amounted to RM18.4 billion with 6.4 million accounts.
