KOREA EDUCATION FAIR IN KUALA LUMPUR TO ATTRACT MALAYSIAN STUDENTS

KUALA LUMPUR, July 5 (Bernama) -- The Korean Education Centre in Malaysia, in collaboration with the South Korean Embassy and the National Institute for International Education under Korea's Ministry of Education, is hosting the 2024 Korea Education Fair at the Hilton Hotel Kuala Lumpur from today until tomorrow.

 The South Korean Embassy said in a statement today that the fair aims to attract outstanding international talent by showcasing the benefits of studying in South Korea and is organised in collaboration with 55 Korean universities to provide comprehensive information on university admissions, scholarship opportunities and career prospects.

'“The number of Korean universities attending this year's fair has increased more than threefold compared to previous years, reflecting the high level of interest from Korean universities in attracting outstanding Malaysian students,” the embassy said.

South Korea’s Ambassador to Malaysia Yeo Seung-bae and officials from the Higher Education Ministry’s International Relations Division attended the fair’s opening ceremony today.

During the opening ceremony, Yeo highlighted his government's initiatives to draw international students, including expanding the Government Scholarship Programme for Malaysian students and easing visa issuance requirements. 

Also, representatives from approximately 20 Korean universities visited local universities, including Help University and INTEC Education College, along with schools with Korean language programmes such as Sekolah Menengah Sains (SMS) Selangor and  SMS Alam Shah yesterday.

“They discussed ways to strengthen educational cooperation with Malaysia and held “Outreach Information Sessions for Overseas Studies” for students,” the embasssy said.
