JDT, KDA FC THROUGH TO FA CUP SEMI FINALS

KUALA LUMPUR, July 5 (Bernama) -- FA Cup defending champions Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) marched into the semifinals with a 13-0 aggregate after defeating A1 League team Malaysian University 8-0 in the second leg quarterfinal at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, Iskandar Puteri today.

Seven different JDT players managed to put their names on the scoresheet today, with Herberty Fernandes De Andrade and Romel Oswaldo Morales Ramirez managing two goals each in the rout.

Juan Muniz Gallego’s long range shot opened accounts in the 20th minute, then Heberty scored his first goal, a penalty in the 25th minute. He followed up with his second four minutes later, while Muhamad Feroz Baharudin scored JDT’s fourth of the match in the 34th to put them up 4-0 by halftime.

In the second half, Francisco De Oliveira Geraldes (60th minute), Romel (71st minute) and Bergson Gustavo Silveira Da Silva (77th minute) all scored, to put the match at 7-0, and Romel drove the final goal in the final minute to seal the one-sided victory.

JDT had beaten Malaysia University 5-0 in the first leg quarterfinal match at the same stadium last Saturday.

Meanwhile in Darul Aman Stadium, Alor Setar, Kedah Darul Aman FC (KDA FC) booked their place in the semifinals with a slim 1-0 aggregate win over Penang FC after their second leg quarterfinal match today ended goalless.

KDA FC managed a 1-0 win over Penang FC 1-0 at the City Stadium in Penang in the first leg quarterfinal match last Friday.
