KUALA LUMPUR, July 9 (Bernama) -- The issue of unpaid salaries highlighted by Kuala Lumpur (KL) City FC midfielder Paulo Josue has come to the attention of Professional Footballers Association of Malaysia (PFAM) president Safee Sali.
The former national striker posted his disappointment over the matter on Instagram today, and supported Josue’s action of bringing the problem to light, expressing hope that those responsible in monitoring the issue would take proactive measures to curb such incidents that seem to be rampant in the local football scene.
“Seven months salary unpaid, Paulo Josue finally brings it up! When we voice it out, we’re said to want to bring down or ruin the image of football, but when such a case happens, who is to blame?
“We will watch and see what the governing body will do and please monitor and do something more proactive to tackle this issue. A lot of clubs fail when it comes to salaries,” he posted, adding that while he no longer played in the Malaysia League, he would continue to champion the welfare of footballers.
“My passion for this sport will never fade. I know the suffering of each player, take the responsibility or just get out of this sport. This life you have an option,” he added.
Previous media reports had stated that Josue claimed to be owed unpaid salary of seven months by KL City and that he was currently surviving on his savings.
