RIO DE JANEIRO, July 11 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- Corinthians have reached an agreement with Argentine Ramon Diaz to become their new manager, the Brazilian Serie A club said on Wednesday, according to Xinhua.

The 64-year-old replaced Antonio Oliveira, who was sacked last week following a poor run of results.

"Ramon Diaz is the new Corinthians manager," said a statement on the Sao Paulo club's official website.

"The Argentine coach arrives on a contract that runs until the end of 2025," it added.

Diaz, a former Argentina international striker whose managerial career included spells in charge of River Plate and Paraguay's national team, has been out of work since parting ways with Brazil's Vasco da Gama in April.

Corinthians are currently 17th in the 20-team Brazilian Serie A standings with just two wins from 15 matches this season.
