GLOBAL CYBER OUTAGE CAUSES MAJOR DISRUPTIONS ACROSS MULTIPLE SECTORS -- REPORTS

KUALA LUMPUR, July 19 (Bernama) -- Key institutions such as airlines, banks, media outlets and hospitals in several countries have reportedly been affected by a mass cyber outage, according to multiple media reports via the X platform.

“Global cyber outage: Cybersecurity platform CrowdStrike is down worldwide, causing global IT problems, disruptions in international airlines, banks and media outlets,” according to Sputnik news agency via its X account @SputInt.

The BBC on its X account @BBCBreaking reported that the mass IT outage has grounded planes and affected banks, broadcasters, and businesses around the world.

Bloomberg’s X account @business reported that a series of technical glitches, triggered by a reported Microsoft outage, is disrupting services globally, affecting sectors ranging from airlines to banking.

Anadolu Agency (AA) on its X platform @anadoluagency reported that hospitals and health services have also been impacted by the server failures, with the Israeli Health Ministry confirming the disruptions.

In Australia, Al Jazeera on X @AJEnglish reported a major IT outage affecting banks, telecoms, media outlets and airlines.

Also in Australia, Melbourne Airport through its X account @MelAir said that it is experiencing a global technology issue which is impacting check-in procedures for some airlines.

Frontier Airlines via its @FlyFrontier reported the impact of the Microsoft outage on their systems, affecting booking, check-in, access to boarding passes and some flights.
