PUTRAJAYA, July 20 (Bernama) -- The National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang 2024 campaign, to be launched tomorrow, will showcase patriotism that continues to enrich the spirit of nationhood and love for the country.
The one-day carnival-themed event, to be held at the Cyber Event Hall in Cyberjaya, is expected to be filled with beneficial activities and aims to strengthen patriotic spirit among the people leading up to the National Day and Malaysia Day (HKHM) 2024 celebrations.
Beginning with patriotic performances at 9 am, the event will continue with various community programmes before the main ceremony at 2 pm, which will be officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The event will also see the presence of both Deputy Prime Ministers, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil, who is HKHM 2024 Main Organising Committee chairman, and Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
Entering its 12th edition, the programme has been implemented 11 times in various locations across the country since 2013 as a symbolic beginning of the National Month celebrations every year.
The significance of the launch is to mark the countdown to the National Day 2024 celebrations on August 31 in Putrajaya, with the momentum and patriotic spirit continuing through to Malaysia Day 2024 on September 16 in Sabah.
Among the highlights of the launch are the Kita MADANI X HKHM 2024 Carnival, MADANI Community Retreat, Rahmah Sales Programme, and Agro MADANI Sales.
The MADANI X HKHM Carnival is a community event featuring activities such as Patriotic Performances, Interactive Activities, Demonstrations, Entrepreneurship and Business Activities, and Services for You, with over 5,000 visitors expected.
The MADANI Community Retreat is a casual discussion programme aimed at enhancing understanding of government policies, initiatives, and directions, gathering members of the MADANI Community in Peninsular Malaysia, and will be hosted by renowned artiste Datuk AC Mizal.
The Rahmah Sales Programme (PJR), organised by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), offers discounts on daily necessities ranging from 10 to 30 percent below local market prices.
Agro MADANI Sales, implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM) through three agencies - Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA), Farmers’ Organisation Authority (LPP), and Fisheries Development Authority of Malaysia (LKIM) - will also showcase special products, including food and crafts from various states.
Anwar will also flag off the Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang Convoy, featuring 65 vehicles and 90 participants, in conjunction with HKHM 2024.
The convoy will include four Information Department (JAPEN) vehicles, six Royal Malaysia Police vehicles (one SUV and five motorcycles), and 50 high-powered motorcycles from the Suzuki V-Strom Malaysia Club, touring the country to further celebrate National Month and Jalur Gemilang 2024.
This year’s HKHM theme is 'Malaysia MADANI-Jiwa Merdeka', with the Malaysia MADANI logo selected as the celebratory emblem.
This theme represents the holistic unity of a progressive and advanced nation encompassing its diverse and unified people.
