S'GOR TARGETS RM550,000 SALES AT MALAYSIA FEST 2024 EXPO IN SINGAPORE - EXCO

SHAH ALAM, July 22 (Bernama) -- The Selangor government is targeting a sales value of RM550,000 at the four-day Malaysia Fest 2024 Expo, involving 11 entrepreneurs, in Singapore beginning Thursday (July 25).

State Infrastructure and Agriculture Committee chairman Izham Hashim said the target saw an increase from the sales value of RM332,723.92 recorded in 2022, which was the last time the state government participated in the expo.

He said that through this participation, his team estimated that a long-term impact of RM1.3 million could achieved this year till December 2026, following the expansion of market sales access abroad involving new product export potential, promotions and online matching sessions.

“The main products to be marketed by Selangor will be the dragon fruit, which is synonymous with the Sepang district, various fish keropok (crackers) and kerepek (chips), crispy mushroom snacks, probiotic drinks and fruit-based biscuits (Frukies)," he said.

Izham said this to reporters at the launch of the Malaysia Fest 2024 expo convoy (to the Singapore Expo) in Dataran Kemerdekaan, Shah Alam here today.

Izham said the state government will bear logistics and rental costs¸ estimated at RM200,000, at the expo for all 11 selected entrepreneurs.

The Malaysia Fest 2024 expo in the Singapore EXPO convention and exhibition centre will showcase the country’s various food, fashion, beauty and tourism products.

Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) chairman Aminuddin Zulkipili was previously reported to have said that the festival organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, through FAMA, in collaboration with Singapore-based MegaXpress International Pte Ltd, will have more than 300 booths.

He added that the festival’s seventh edition, themed “Explore the Gems of Malaysia", aims to generate direct sales of RM12 million and attract 120,000 visitors.
