KUALA LUMPUR, July 28 (Bernama-Sputnik) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and exchanged souvenirs following talks, reported Sputnik.

The Russian minister presented Ibrahim with books, including works by Alexander Pushkin and other Russian writers and works by Malaysian poets in Russian.

Anwar jokingly asked Lavrov whether he had read all these books during many years "in prison," hinting at the Russian minister's long tenure in his post, which he took up in 2004.

Lavrov replied with a laugh that Anwar could read these books once he is "free."

The Russian minister received an engraving depicting Malaysian architecture as a gift.
