KUALA LUMPUR, July 30 (Bernama) -- Vijay LLB The Advocate, a local Tamil film which is set to hit screens nationwide on Thursday (Aug 1) is projected to earn RM3 million, Offering a legal narrative and behind-the-scenes glimpses of court cases, the film is expected to play to a full house over the course of a month.

Raaga radio presenter Uthaya, who plays the lead role in the film, said this estimation is based on the strong dialogue delivery in Tamil and an aggressive marketing and advertising campaign.

He said the two-hour movie is scheduled to be screened in 50 theatres nationwide.

“This rough estimation is made with the expectation of full house screenings in 50 theatres nationwide. We aim to attract people from all segments of society, including lawyers, children and students to watch this movie which revolves around scams in education in the country,” he told Bernama in an exclusive interview at Wisma Bernama today.

Uthaya said the M. Mathialagan-directed film not only offers an engaging plot but also delivers an important message.

“The film is adapted from a novel based on a true story and includes local elements. It promises a deep and captivating experience,” said Uthaya, who is also the movie's producer.

“Although the title refers to the legal fraternity, Vijay LLB The Advocate offers more than just a lawyer's narrative, featuring elements of drama and a thriller that are rarely seen in local Tamil works.”

The story begins with the murder of a college student, and with a lecturer, Venthan, being implicated in the incident. Despite all evidence and witnesses seemingly stacked against him, lawyer Vijay, who is Venthan's childhood friend, feels compelled to help clear his friend's name.

As the journey to uphold truth and seek justice unfolds, Vijay must navigate the complexities of power, money, and manipulation to defend Venthan.
