KUALA LUMPUR, July 31 (Bernama) -- Several Cabinet ministers took to social media to extend their best wishes and express their gratitude to all members of the Malaysian Armed Forces and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) in conjunction with the Warriors’ Day celebration today.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, for one, said the services, deeds and sacrifices of the warriors who have fought for the nation, race and religion are highly commemorated on this meaningful day.

“Our warriors will always have a place in our hearts and their fighting spirit is still felt today.

“Their courage and perseverance are an inspiration to the current generation to continue to defend the sovereignty of our beloved country. Thank you all warriors, for your service and devotion.

“Let us pray for them, especially those who have perished in fighting for the country. Al-Fatihah,” he posted on Facebook.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, in his social media post, also expressed his deepest appreciation to the military and police forces as the peace that the country is enjoying now is the result of their struggles and sacrifices.

“It is because of your blood, sweat and tears that Malaysians of multiple races and religions can enjoy peace, well-being and prosperity as they are today.

“Indeed, the hard work and sacrifices of the warriors, whether those who have died, or those who are still faithfully serving, have shaped Malaysia's peace to this day. Thank you national heroes and heroines. May Allah reward you all for your services,” he posted.

Meanwhile, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin wrote that the Warriors’ Day celebration held on July 31 every year is a form of honour to all military and police personnel.

He said their dedication, courage and sacrifices have enabled the country's sovereignty and security to continue to be preserved.

“On behalf of the Defence Ministry and all Malaysians, I express my deepest appreciation for the service and sacrifice of our heroes and security forces in upholding the dignity of religion and the nation as well as the sovereignty of our country.

“As Malaysians, we also have our own role. National sovereignty is a collective effort and responsibility of all Malaysians. We must work together to make the WoGoS (Whole of Government, Whole of Society) approach a success, which requires all parties to contribute towards preserving national sovereignty,” he said.

Sharing the sentiment was Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail who expressed his undivided appreciation for the contributions and sacrifices made by all members of the security forces in protecting the country's peace and sovereignty over the years.

“The service and sacrifice of the fighters should be remembered forever. Al-Fatihah to all the national fighters who have left us before,” he said.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar and Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa also extended their Warriors’ Day greetings, saying that the contribution of the security forces in protecting the sovereignty and security of the country, is indeed priceless.

Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi shared a pantun in his Warriors’ Day greetings.

Helang terbang tinggi di awan, singgah di pokok di tengah taman.

“Berkat berani para pahlawan, hidup selesa negara aman.”

“Happy Warriors’ Day to all national warriors. Your deeds and contributions will forever be remembered,” he said.

Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching, in her post, expressed hope that all parties can emulate the spirit of national heroes in ensuring peace and sovereignty of the country by being cautious of what they write and share on social media.

“Because in this digital age, we indeed live without borders, but let it be with a sense of responsibility,” she said.
