IRANIAN PARLIAMENT COMMITTEE TO HOLD EMERGENCY MEETING ON HAMAS CHIEF’S KILLING

TEHRAN, July 31 (Bernama-IRNA) -- The spokesman for the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee announced that an emergency meeting will be held on Wednesday morning to address the killing of the political bureau chief of the Palestinian movement Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh.

Ebrahim Rezaei informed reporters that the committee will convene later in the day to discuss the matter in detail, the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported.

"The issue is under investigation and the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee will provide the necessary information regarding the next actions and meetings," he added.

Haniyeh and one of his bodyguards were killed at their residence in the Iranian capital early on Wednesday.

Haniyeh was in Tehran to attend the inauguration ceremony of the new Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Tuesday (July 30).
