NEW DELHI, Aug 1 (Bernama) -- India will provide a US$300 million credit line to Vietnam to strengthen the Southeast Asian country's maritime security.

A number of agreements were signed as Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi discussed closer relations between the two countries in New Delhi on Thursday.

The agreement on the Indian credit line was one of several deals signed between the two sides, according to India's Ministry of External Affairs.

Chinh arrived in India on Tuesday night on a three-day visit.

India and Vietnam have agreed on a "plan of action" for the implementation of their "Comprehensive Strategic Partnership" during the 2024-2028 period.
