SAUDI ARABIA'S TOURISM SECTOR FLOURISHES IN 2023 WITH SIGNIFICANT GCC CONTRIBUTIONS

RIYADH, Aug 5 (Bernama-SPA) -- Saudi Arabia's tourism sector saw significant growth in 2023, with 8.6 million GCC visitors generating over US$4 billion (SAR 15 billion), Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported citing the country’s Ministry of Tourism's annual report.

The report revealed Bahrain as the leading GCC source market, contributing 3.4 million tourists, followed by Kuwait with 2.3 million, the UAE with 1.4 million, Qatar with 1.1 million and Oman with 455,000 visitors.

In total, Saudi Arabia attracted a staggering 27 million international visitors in 2023, with these tourists spending US$37.6 billion (SAR 141 billion) within the Kingdom. The combined number of domestic and international tourists surpassed 109 million.

The report highlights the robust growth and performance of Saudi Arabia's tourism sector, driven by increased visitor numbers from the GCC and other global regions.

This surge in tourism has significantly contributed to the Saudi economy, underscoring the Kingdom's appeal as a premier tourism destination.
