JERUSALEM,  Aug 9 (Bernama-WAFA) -- The UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) reported Thursday that detected malnutrition cases among children in northern Gaza increased by more than 300 per cent in July compared with May.

Quoting data from the Global Nutrition Cluster and the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC), it said 96 per cent of Gaza's population faces crisis levels of hunger, according to Palestinian news agency (WAFA).

The agency urged countries worldwide to increase aid to the Israeli-blockaded enclave and called for an immediate ceasefire to alleviate the dire humanitarian situation.
