FINISHING TOUCHES BEING MADE BEFORE START OF SOUTHERN ZONE MADANI RAKYAT PROGRAMME

JOHOR BAHRU, Aug 14 (Bernama) -- Preparations for the Southern Zone MADANI Rakyat (PMR) Programme 2024, which begins tomorrow, are over 95 per cent complete.

Ministry of Economy senior undersecretary (management) Dr Nor Azlina Ariffin said only finishing touches are to be completed in some focal locations such as the main stage, sales site and for the ministry's parade.

"Intensive preparations are being made to ensure the smooth running of the three-day programme, beginning tomorrow. As of 7 pm today, preparations are 95 per cent complete,” she said when met by Bernama here today.

"Apart from the pavilion, our ministries and agencies also have other activities, including on the main stage where there will be 50 interesting activities that we have arranged for visitors tomorrow.”

A Bernama survey also found that staff of the ministry and agencies were busy with putting the finishing touches to prepare the 34 ministry and agency exhibition booths.

Nor Azlina said the Southern Zone MADANI Rakyat (PMR) Programme 2024, is the best stage for the people to evaluate and see for themselves the performance and achievements of the MADANI Economy since it was launched in July last year.

She said that in addition to the exchange of helmets and a 50 per cent discount on traffic summonses, visitors can also participate in leisure activities such as a five-kilometre fun run, aerobics and have the opportunity to get a tree saplings.

They can also register for MyDigital ID and for those looking for job opportunities, various companies are offering 2,125 vacancies during the programme.

The programme to be held at Dataran Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) will be held from 9 am to 10 pm (Aug 16 and 17) and 9 am to 6 pm (Aug 17).

Covering the states of Johor, Negeri Sembilan and Melaka, the programme is organised by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) through the Performance Acceleration and Coordination Unit (PACU) with strategic cooperation from the Ministry of Economy and Johor government.

The programme will focus on the implementation of the MADANI Economy framework as well as the government's continued commitment in empowering the people, entrepreneurs and the industry since its launch a year ago.
