KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 15 (Bernama) -- MILO, a popular nutritious chocolate malt beverage brand, is gearing up to get some 10,000 school students across nine districts in Sarawak excited for the 2024 Malaysia Games (SUKMA) from Aug 17-24.

As a platinum sponsor of SUKMA, MILO is offering various on-ground activities to the students, including mini-games and hands-on sporting experiences in athletics, netball, football, futsal, indoor hockey, basketball and volleyball.

MILO head of sports marketing, Lim Kerwin, said their support for SUKMA reflects their enduring commitment to nurturing future champions and fostering a healthier, more active community.

“We are privileged to be part of SUKMA XXI’s journey towards greater sporting achievements for Malaysia and to play a role in elevating the standard of sports in our nation,” he said in a statement.

SUKMA chief executive officer, Datuk Hii Chang Kee, extended his deepest gratitude to MILO for their significant role in celebrating young athletes.

“Their generosity and support will greatly contribute to youth and sports development, showcasing a strong belief in the potential of our young talent,” he said.

During the Games, Malaysians can look forward to the iconic green MILO trucks stationed at venues across the nine Sarawak divisions, where free drinks will be provided to energise spectators.

SUKMA 2024 offers 488 gold medals from 37 sports, with all events being held at 50 competition venues in nine divisions throughout Sarawak, namely Kuching, Samarahan, Serian, Sri Aman, Betong, Sibu, Mukah, Bintulu and Miri.

A total of 9,927 athletes nationwide have confirmed their participation in the Games, with Brunei sending an invitational contingent.
