KUCHING, Aug 15 (Bernama) -- The Sarawak lawn bowls team are on a roll as their players have qualified for tomorrow’s semi-finals of the women’s singles and men’s pairs events at the 2024 Malaysia Games (SUKMA).
In today’s action at the Lawn Bowls Arena in Kuching, Sarawak’s Dayang Nur Alia Sharmiela Abang Gadisa advanced automatically to the last four of the women’s singles event after topping Group J.
Awaiting her in the semi-final is Terengganu’s Nur Ain Kemilia Sukri, who defeated Pahang’s Dania Ariesya Che Rosenizam 21-9 in the playoff.
Meanwhile, the other women’s singles semi-final clash will see Group K winner Nur Najla Damia Mustakim of Selangor taking on Federal Territories’ Nur Syafira Muhammad Rezuan, who downed Perak’s Siti Noor Aisyah Abdul Aziz 21-2 in the other playoff.
In the men’s pairs event, Sarawak’s Mohammad Aryan Nazrullah Nazaruddin-Muhammad Ramadhan Mohamad Jeffy qualified for the last four after downing Pahang’s Harrish Khusairy Abdul Khalil-Muhammad Ammar Mazlizal 19-7 in the playoff.
The Sarawak duo will face Group J champions Muhammad Haziq Mat Yusoff-Wan Muhammad Haikal Wan Ruzali of Terengganu in the last four.
The other men’s pairs semi-final will pit Group D champions Akmal Darwisy Abdul Rahim-Amirul Danial Abdul Rahim against Federal Territories’ Faris Syuhairil Ahmad Syukri-Muhammad Adiq Azman, who defeated a pair from Sabah 14-8 in the playoff.
Meanwhile, the men’s triples semi-finals will see Group E champions Selangor face the Federal Territories and Group F winners Terengganu take on Johor.
