SUKMA 2024: SABAH SILAT EXPONENTS FIGHT THEIR WAY TO FOUR GOLD MEDALS

MIRI, Aug 23 (Bernama) -- Sabah silat exponents grabbed four out of the 20 gold medals on offer in the olahraga (combat) category at the 2024 Malaysia Games (SUKMA) at the Miri City Stadium today.

Muhammad Razfadhlur Rahman Razaineh got the ball rolling for them when he defeated Mohamad Ridhuan Sulaiman of the Federal Territories (FT) 40-30 in Putra Class B.

The Sabahan’s brother, Muhamad Razfirdaus sank Kedah’s Muhammad Saiful Hazim Mazukhi 41-35 in the Putra Class C for the state’s second gold of the day.

Gold number three came courtesy of Awangku Tarmizal Ag Tamin in the Putra Class D after he defeated Kedah’s Muhammad Adam Tajudin 26-25.

The Land Below the Wind’s fourth gold medal was delivered by Muhammad Hassan Mahmood, who beat FT’s Megat Razman Abd Rahman 39-19 in a Putra Class I bout.

Sabah also took home three silver medals through Safia Umairah Hussin (Below 45-kilogramme Class), Riezlynn Edelya Edtasha Ahmad Rozi (Putri Class A) and Nur Ilyana Natasyah Abdullah (Putri Class C).

Meanwhile, hosts Sarawak, Perak, Terengganu and Melaka bagged two gold medals each on the final day of the silat competition.
