JAKARTA, Aug. 25 (Bernama-Sputnik) -- Pressure on the United States and a number of other countries regarding arms supplies and sales to Israel should increase, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' adviser on international relations and his special envoy, Riyad al-Maliki, said in an interview to Sputnik.

"Pressure on all countries supplying weapons to Israel should only increase. In particular, this concerns the United States," al-Maliki said.

If the international community continues to exert pressure, "there will be countries that will really consider this issue," he added.

If sanctions cannot be imposed, at least it is necessary to stop the sale of weapons to Israel, the official said.

The United States has been the primary supplier of military aid to Israel, facilitating its military operation in Gaza since October 7. In April, the US Congress passed a foreign aid bill that unlocked US$15 billion in military support for Israel.
