KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 1 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) is providing a microsite that displays ASEAN-related news from Sept 1.

Bernama Editor-in-Chief Arul Rajoo Durar Raj said the microsite was created in conjunction with Malaysia's ASEAN chairmanship in 2025.

"The microsite, asean.bernama.com, will provide links to ASEAN-related news produced by Bernama journalists, including our journalists in Bangkok, Thailand; Jakarta, Indonesia, and Singapore.

"In fact, this microsite will also broadcast relevant ASEAN news published by our media partners, such as the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) and the Indonesian News Agency (Antara),” he said.

In addition to news links, the microsite also provides photos, videos and infographics about ASEAN.

"In addition to being a special platform for ASEAN with appropriate news links, we also intend to internationalise the Bernama.com portal itself through this microsite.

"We also want the awareness of Malaysians in general and residents of ASEAN member countries to increase through this microsite," he said.

Arul Rajoo said Bernama TV and Bernama Radio also provide ASEAN-related programmes that are included in the microsite, including Atlas ASEAN and Hello ASEAN produced by Bernama Radio and The Nation ASEAN+, ASEAN Petang Ini, #ceritaASEAN on Apa Khabar Malaysia and Darah Muda Kembara ASEAN on Bernama TV.

He said Bernama will also collaborate with Wisma Putra, namely the Malaysian Foreign Ministry, to produce content that is in line with Malaysia's role as chairman of ASEAN in the future.

"We will work with Wisma Putra to get the right content, including programmes created by embassies abroad to be uploaded onto the microsite.

"Most importantly, apart from helping the country as ASEAN chair, this microsite is also expected to attract and increase the number of views on the Bernama website itself," he said.

Meanwhile, Bernama Foreign News Service executive editor Ravichandran D.J Paul said the microsite, available in English and Bahasa Malaysia, will serve as a hub for timely and relevant news, showcasing the latest developments across the ASEAN region.

He said Bernama is committed to enhancing its ASEAN content through the contributions of its dedicated correspondents and our valued ASEAN counterparts.

“As Malaysia prepares to assume the chairmanship of ASEAN in 2025, this microsite will offer a comprehensive coverage of the activities planned throughout the year.

“We aim to deliver compelling narratives that highlight the strong unity within the regional grouping and the people-to-people links, ensuring our audience stays informed and engaged with the stories that matter most.

“Stay tuned for insightful coverage and in-depth reporting as we continue to connect our audience with the developments across the world and the region through news,” he said.
