STARLINK WILL NOT FENCE OFF X TO BRAZILIAN USERS: TELECOMMUNICATIONS AGENCY HEAD

BUENOS AIRES, Sept 2 (Bernama-Sputnik) -- Starlink will not comply with a court order and will not restrict access to X for its users in Brazil, president of Brazilian National Telecommunications Agency, Carlos Baigorri, said on Monday, reported Sputnik.

"I have been in contact with Starlink's legal team throughout the day, and we have been told that Starlink will not block access to X until the court-ordered block on Starlink accounts is lifted," Baigorri told TV Globo, adding that he has already communicated the company's position to the Supreme Federal Court.

There are more than 200,000 Starlink users in Brazil.

On Aug 30, Brazilian Supreme Court Judge Alexandre de Moraes suspended X in the country due to the refusal of US billionaire Elon Musk to appoint a new legal representative for the social network. The judge earlier froze Starlink accounts in Brazil for the same reason.

Musk has claimed that X and Starlink are legally separate entities. Therefore, he argues that the Brazilian court's decision to freeze Starlink accounts is illegal.
