PAHANG GOVT HIGHLY COMMITTED TO UPHOLDING, ELEVATING ISLAMIC SYIAR - MB

KUANTAN, Sept 5 (Bernama) -- The Pahang government has always given a high level of commitment to upholding the syiar of Islam in the state, hence rejecting claims that they have not made any development towards the agenda.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said the commitment can be seen through the enactment of laws related to Islam, including those that prevent apostasy and the spread of deviant teachings, and the establishment of tahfiz schools and kindergartens, as well as Universiti Islam Pahang Sultan Ahmad Shah (UNIPSAS).

“The first Pahang Tahfiz kindergarten was opened in 2018, and we now have 25 tahfiz kindergartens statewide. In fact, our tahfiz kindergarten’s teaching module has been adopted by 4,000 KEMAS kindergartens across the country,” he said in his adjournment speech at the State Assembly sitting today.

Wan Rosdy said, over the past five years, 18 new mosques have been built in Pahang, 15 are under construction and four are still in the land survey and design phase.

The Menteri Besar also brushed aside Harakahdaily's report dated Sept 1 titled Agenda Islam di Pahang hanya PAS boleh diharap, describing it as full of negative perception that the state government has not done anything to uphold and elevate Islamic syiar in Pahang.

“We can have different views in politics, but in matters of religion, we shouldn’t go to the extremes.

“Our ijtihad (independent reasoning) may be different, but our goals to uphold Islam remain the same,” he added.

The sitting was then adjourned sine die.
