JAKARTA, Sept 10 (Bernama) -- Over 50 scholars, research experts and academics across the region gathered in Jakarta for the first ASEAN Think Tanks Summit (ATTS) to discuss and deliberate key geopolitical and economic challenges currently facing ASEAN.

The two-day ATTS – organised by the ASEAN Institutes of Strategic and International Studies (ASEAN-ISIS) Network in support of the ASEAN Secretariat and GIZ, the development agency of the German Federal Foreign Office – was opened by ASEAN secretary-general Dr Kao Kim Hourn on Tuesday at the ASEAN Headquarters.

The ATTS features panel discussions aimed at developing actionable policy recommendations on critical areas such as economic integration, climate resilience, ASEAN’s strategic role in the Indo-Pacific, and its relationships with key dialogue partners.

"The summit is expected to generate strategic recommendations, which will be presented for consideration at the upcoming 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits in Laos next month," Kao said.
