KUCHING, Sept 11 (Bernama) -- Singapore is keen to strengthen cooperation with Sarawak, particularly in the renewable energy sector.

Singapore’s Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry Dr Tan See Leng said  Sarawak has huge potential in the renewable energy sector due to its strategic location and vast natural resources.

“Sarawak is truly blessed with abundant natural resources, particularly in renewable energy. I think it's one of the key agenda items we’ll be discussing further.

“We also hope that bilateral trade and tourism connectivity will continue to grow, and that there will be further collaboration on renewable energy imports,” he said.

He told reporters this after a courtesy call on Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here today.

On his visit to Sarawak, Dr Tan, who had earlier also paid a courtesy call on the Yang Dipertua Negeri of Sarawak, Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, described the engagements as highly productive.

“In the next few months, I’m looking forward to a series of productive engagements between our teams and possibly setting up something for our Leaders' Retreat towards the end of the year,” he added.
