KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 16 (Bernama) -- Thousands of miles away from their homeland, Malaysians in Paris brought a taste of Malaysia to the City of Light with a vibrant Malaysia Day celebration.

Over 150 Malaysians residing in Paris gathered in a park on Sunday to celebrate Malaysia Day, embracing their heritage and fostering a sense of unity.

The event, organised by the Malaysian Embassy in Paris, France was imbued with a spirit of patriotism.

A delicious spread of Malaysian cuisine, including Nasi Lemak, fried bee hoon, chicken rice, and various fried snacks like popiah, badak berendam, ketayap, and curry puffs, was served.

In addition to the food, the attendees enjoyed traditional games, including galah panjang

Malaysia’s Ambassador to France, Datuk Eldeen Husaini Mohd Hashim, said this year's Malaysia Day celebration marked the embassy's inaugural showcase of Malaysia's rich cultural heritage through food, games, and dance.

He said the  event served as a powerful platform to unite Malaysians living in France and strengthen their sense of community.

“This year's celebration offered a nostalgic homecoming for Malaysians who had been away from their homeland for an extended period.

"A park picnic proved to be an ideal setting for uniting a large group of Malaysians. It provided a welcoming atmosphere for fostering connections and strengthening our community bonds," he told Bernama.

He added that French guests also experience the vibrant tapestry of Malaysian culture through its delicious food.
