KUCHING, Sept 17 (Bernama) -- A total of 25 disabled-friendly Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd buses have arrived here since Sept 13, to be used in conjunction with the Para Sukma Malaysia (SUKMA) 2024 games scheduled to take place here from Sept 22 to 28.

Sarawak Women, Children and Community Welfare Minister, Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said the transport company also sent 44 personnel to familiarize themselves with the routes to the various competition venues.

“This is in line with our commitment to provide inclusive and safe transportation for all athletes, especially those who will compete in the Para SUKMA,” she said at the Rapid Bus Service press conference in conjunction with the Sarawak Para SUKMA 2024 here, today.

Fatimah said the buses were also equipped with an application ‘Rapidbus KIOSK’ to track the current location of the bus in real time so that the athletes reach the competition venues on time.

“These buses will play an important role in connecting athletes and officials to their places of accomodation, competition venues, opening and closing ceremonies and other relevant places.

“Service schedules and routes have been carefully planned to ensure that all journeys run smoothly without interruption. We want to ensure that the athletes and officials do not face any transportation problems and can focus fully on their competition,” she said.

Rapid KL is the official vehicle partner in conjunction with the Para SUKMA 2024 games by providing free bus services without involving rentals and the Sarawak government only bears the shipping cost of RM845,000 from Port Klang to the Kuching port and back.
