VIETNAM SETS 7 PCT GDP GROWTH TARGET FOR 2024

03/10/2024 03:17 PM

HANOI, Oct 3 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- The Vietnamese government is striving to register an economic growth rate of 6.8 to 7 per cent for 2024.

It was higher than the National Assembly (NA)'s target of 6 per cent to 6.5 per cent, reported Xinhua quoting a Vietnam News Agency report Thursday, citing the latest update from the Ministry of Planning and Investment.

According to the ministry, many economic indicators have surpassed the NA's goals despite unpredictable domestic and global developments, said the ministry.

The country's gross domestic product (GDP) growth target has exceeded forecasts from international organisations.

The Asian Development Bank's projections for Vietnam's economic growth are unchanged at 6 per cent in 2024 while the International Monetary Fund forecasts 6.1 per cent of GDP growth for Vietnam in 2024.
