KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 5 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Rubber Board (LGM) has confiscated 42 pallets filled of reclaimed rubber weighing 70 metric tons along with other items worth about RM200,000 in a raid on a rubber factory in Klang, Selangor.
The board said in a statement today that the raid on the factory, believed to be operating illegally, was a joint effort between the Klang Royal City Council, the Selangor Department of Environment and the police.
“The factory is believed to be actively conducting the production and sale of reclaimed rubber outside of licensed premises,” LGM said, adding that such activities contravened Regulation 7(1)(b) of the Malaysian Rubber Board (Licensing and Permits) Regulations 2014.
Such offences are punishable with fines not exceeding RM100,000 or no more than three years’ jail or both if found guilty.
“LGM will continue to conduct large-scale operations to regulate the entire rubber industry chain, especially factories operating without a valid licence,” the board added.
