INDONESIA

1. CAMBODIA TO HOST FRANCOPHONIE SUMMIT 2026 -- FRESH  NEWS

Cambodia will host the 20th edition of the Francophonie Summit in 2026, a gathering of French-speaking nations. The biennial summit promotes peace and democracy, education and research, and sustainable development among its 84 member states. 

 

2. “SMILE OF CAMBODIA” EVENT AT ANGKOR WAT -- AGENCE KAMPUCHEA PRESSE 

The Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts will host the second edition of "Smile of Cambodia” in Siem Reap. The event will be held from 29 to 30 October at Angkor Wat where food, culture and traditional dances will be showcased. 

 

LAOS

1. PROBE BEGINS ON FIGHTER JET CRASH -- VIENTIANE TIMES 

The Ministry of National Defence has set up a fact-finding committee to Investigate the crash of the Yak 130 jet that killed two pilots on Friday. The jet on an exercise mission crashed into a pond in the northern region of Laos. 

 

2. ASEAN TOP OFFICIALS PREPARE FOR SUMMITS -- VIENTIANE TIMES 

The Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN are finalising documents ahead of the main summits in Vientiane. The 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits are happening in Vientiane from 8 to 10 October, with the theme "ASEAN: Enhancing Connectivity and Resilience”.

 

MYANMAR

1. MYANMAR TO BUILD HIGH-SPEED PATROL VESSELS -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR

The Myanmar Coast Guards plan to construct four 48-metre high-speed patrol vessels to protect the nation’s maritime security. Myanmar needs to safeguard its 143,110.72 square nautical miles of water territory and about 1,300 nautical miles of coastal area.

 

2. YANGON TRADE FAIR IN OCTOBER -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR

The Yangon International Trade Expo 2024 will be held from 25 to 27 October. Highlights include the “Medical, Hospital, Health & Beauty Care Myanmar 2024” and “Myanmar Education & Further Study 2024”, and will feature other key sectors like real estate, renewable energy and agriculture.
