PUTRAJAYA, Oct 11 (Bernama) -- The Communications Ministry organised a Brisk Walk activity today as part of the ministry's activities in conjunction with the 2024 National Sports Day Celebration which falls tomorrow (Oct 12).
A total of 200 staff of the ministry and agencies under its purview as well as their families participated in the event which began 5 pm.
The event kicked off with participants doing light warm-up exercises in the lobby of the Communications Ministry before walking briskly for two kilometres around Precinct 4, Putrajaya here.
It was officiated by Datin Nik Noralhuda Nik Mohamed, chairman of the Communications Ministry branch of the Association of Wives and Women Members of the Malaysian Civil Service (Puspanita), and also attended by Communications Ministry senior undersecretary (Management) Mazlan Abd Mutalib.
National Sports Day is a national agenda that is celebrated annually on the second Saturday of October since 2015, with the intention of popularising sports in the community through the practice of a fit and active lifestyle.
This year's National Sports Day celebration, themed "Fit Together", sees various sports and recreational programmes and activities organised nationwide.
The highlight of this year's celebration is the 2024 National Sports Day Celebration event which will be officiated by Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh at Dataran Putrajaya at 7 am tomorrow.
