AMMAN, Oct 15 (Bernama-SPA) -- Saudi Ambassador to Jordan Naif Al-Sudairi on Monday presented a cheque to UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini as a contribution from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to support UNRWA's programs and operations, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

Al-Sudairi emphasised the Kingdom's commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause and enabling UNRWA to fulfil its responsibilities toward Palestinian refugees.

Lazzarini expressed gratitude for the donation, stating that it will enable UNRWA to continue providing essential services, including education and healthcare, to vulnerable Palestinian refugees in the West Bank, Gaza, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria.

He highlighted the dire situation in Gaza, where over 650,000 children are out of school and suffering psychological trauma.

Lazzarini also expressed concern about potential Israeli legislation targeting UNRWA and the deteriorating conditions in Gaza following the recent Israeli aggression.
