NEW DELHI, Oct 16 (Bernama) -- A Canadian Air Force plane transported passengers of an Air India flight that was stranded at a remote Canadian airport following a bomb threat.

Flight AI127 operating from Delhi to Chicago landed at Iqaluit Airport in Canada on Tuesday as a precautionary measure following a security threat posted online, the airline said.

"We thank the Canadian authorities and authorities at Iqaluit airport for their support and assistance extended to the passengers and Air India during this unexpected disruption," the airline said in a statement on Wednesday.

It said the passengers were being ferried on a Canadian Air Force aircraft to their destination.

Several Indian flights received hoax bomb threats on Tuesday, including one Air India Express budget service from Madurai to Singapore and a Dammam-Lucknow IndiGo flight.

Ten flights operated by Indian carriers received bomb threats within 48 hours until Tuesday, according to Indian media reports.

"Air India notes that it, and other local airlines, have been subject to a number of threats in recent days. Though all have subsequently been found to be hoaxes, as a responsible airline operator all threats are taken seriously," the airline said earlier.

On Tuesday, Singaporean Air Force planes escorted Air India Express flight AXB684 following a bomb threat.

Two F-15 planes were scrambled and escorted the plane away from populated areas, and the plane landed safely at Singapore Changi Airport at 10.04 pm, Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen said in a post on his X page.

Singapore had also activated its ground-based air defence systems and explosive ordnance disposal in its emergency measures.
