2. WHO SAYS VIETNAM FREE FROM TRACHOMA EYE DISEASE -- VIETNAM NEWS 

The World Health Organisation (WHO) announced that Vietnam has eliminated trachoma, a bacterial disease that may cause blindness. The contagious eye disease, which spreads through flies or direct contact with an infected person, poses a public health threat to the country.

1. LAOS SAYS ASEAN PARLIAMENTARY ASSEMBLY A SUCCESS -- VIENTIANE TIMES

Laos termed the 45th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly successful, with 37 resolutions adopted in Vientiane on Saturday. Malaysia, which will assume the chairmanship of ASEAN in 2025, will be the president of the next assembly.

 

2. LAOS-CHINA RAILWAY TRANSPORTS 390 TONNES OF BANANAS -- VIENTIANE TIMES

Laos exported  390 tonnes of bananas to China on a refrigerated train from Vientiane to Kunming, and the cargo reached Pinggu district in Beijing, completing an eight-day journey. China imports about 700,000 tonnes of bananas from Laos every year.
