5 KILLED IN FIRE AT PAPER FACTORY IN LEBANON

BEIRUT, Oct 23 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- Five people were killed on Wednesday in a fire at a paper factory, according to Xinhua, which quoted the official National News Agency (NNA) report.

The reports said that the Civil Defence teams succeeded in extinguishing the fire after a few hours at the factory, which is located in Jisr al-Basha, Mount Lebanon's Metn District.

It added that the Lebanese Red Cross and Civil Defence teams recovered the bodies and transported them to the Baabda Governmental Hospital.

Meanwhile, Civil Defence Director General Raymond Khattar told local TV channel MTV that several workers trapped in the factory have been rescued.
