SEPANG, Nov 1 (Bernama) -- National motocross rider Muhamad Habibullah Mohd Saleh, better known as Gabit, is suffering from nasal cancer again after being free of the disease in 2023.

The 33-year-old racer said that after being diagnosed with stage four cancer in 2021, he was free of the cancer after undergoing several rounds of chemotherapy, but the National Cancer Institute (IKN) confirmed that the cancer had returned four days ago.

“In 2021, I had cancer and then was free from my stage four nasal cancer, but four days ago after doing a CT Scan at IKN, the cancer is back. I need to do chemotherapy again, but the doctor doesn't know what stage I am at.

“I can’t lie, it’s sad, devastating. I'm not okay; I feel numbness in my lips and throbbing gums when I talk a lot, and my right eye can’t see; I squint to the left. When I talk a lot, my tongue feels tense,” he said at the launch of the MKA Group helmet at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) here today.

The two-time SuperMoto Asia FIM champion was first diagnosed with the disease in December 2021.

Earlier, MKA Group launched its latest helmet design with the image of the national hero, entitled KYT TTR Jet Pendekar series.

MKA Group chief executive officer Bruce Lee said the helmet series symbolises Gabit's fighting spirit in battling cancer.
