PASIR SALAK, Nov 6 (Bernama) -- The government has allocated RM300,000 for three social service programmes aimed at targeted groups in Perak to help ease their cost of living burden.
Datuk Azman Abidin, the political secretary to the Prime Minister, said the allocation involves the MADANI Ehsan Assistance Programme, MADANI Donation for Special Education and B40 Students and the Village Chicken Farming and Feed Mixture Course.
“The funds allocated under these programmes are based on need and not handed out arbitrarily as we want to add value and ensure the funds reach the targeted groups,” he said.
He said this when met at the MADANI Ehsan Assistance Programme at Kampung Orang Asli Redang Punggor here today, which also involved the attendance of over 500 community leaders and local residents.
Azman said similar aid allocations were also channelled to other states depending on applications and needs.
“Perak is the fifth state that we are providing this assistance. Previously, we had presented similar aid in Kedah, Johor, Melaka, Sabah and Sarawak. It’s just that the allocation varies depending on applications and urgent needs,” he said.
In addition, he said the contribution channelled proved that the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim always cares about the needs of the people.
Azman, however, hoped that the allocation be used effectively to reduce the cost of living and improve the economic standards of the people.
“The people should also strive to change their status towards self-reliance, not remain passive and always relying on welfare aid,” he said.
