TYPHOON PEPITO ALERT: MALAYSIANS IN THE PHILIPPINES ADVISED TO STAY SAFE

PUTRAJAYA, Nov 15 (Bernama) -- Malaysia is closely monitoring the aftermath of Typhoon Ofel (international name: Usagi), which weakened significantly on Friday after causing damage to northern towns in the Philippines.

The Foreign Ministry in its media advisory on Friday said, as authorities continue recovery efforts, preparations are underway for Typhoon Pepito (international name: Man-yi), which is intensifying in the western Pacific and could hit eastern towns and the capital region, Manila, over the weekend.

“Man-yi is projected to strengthen into a super typhoon by early Sunday. Malaysians in the affected areas are urged to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions,” the advisory read.

The ministry has urged Malaysians residing in or visiting the Philippines to register their presence through the E-Konsular platform to receive timely updates and support.
