JOHOR BAHRU, Nov 16 (Bernama) -- Johor Council of Royal Court secretary Datuk Abdul Latiff Yusof was laid to rest at 6.30 pm today at the Mount Austin Muslim Cemetery.
Abdul Latiff, 71, passed away at 1.01 pm while receiving treatment at Columbia Asia Hospital, Tebrau.
The funeral prayers were conducted at Masjid Bomba Larkin, followed by a second prayer session and final respects at his residence in Kampung Serama, Larkin.
The late Abdul Latiff, former Johor state secretary, is survived by his wife, Datin Safiah Aris, and four children.
Their Majesties, the King and Queen of Malaysia, Sultan Ibrahim and Raja Zarith Sofiah, expressed their condolences on the passing of Abdul Latiff in a heartfelt post on the official Facebook page of Sultan Ibrahim.
The late Abdul Latiff had an illustrious 36-year career in the Johor public service, which began in 1975 as an assistant land revenue collector at the Kota Tinggi Land Office.
Over the years, he held several significant positions, including Batu Pahat Municipal Council president, Mersing district officer, Kluang district officer, Muar district officer, Johor Bahru City Council mayor, Johor state secretary and held his last position as Johor Council of Royal Court secretary.
