KUCHING, Nov 17 (Bernama) -- The participation of the Malaysian Takaful Association (MTA) as the main exhibitor at the Sarawak Financial Literacy Carnival (KCK), held over three days from Friday to today at Vivacity Mall, has successfully achieved its objectives.

The MTA in a statement said the association actively promoted Perlindungan Tenang, an affordable protection plan suitable for all segments of society throughout the carnival.

"Visitors gained awareness of how Takaful can enhance their financial management through practical advice tailored to their needs.

"This involvement reflects MTA's commitment to spreading financial literacy, promoting Takaful as a vital protection tool, and empowering communities to build a stronger financial future," the statement said.

It added that MTA remained dedicated to raising awareness about financial literacy, promoting Takaful as an essential protection mechanism, and fostering a culture of financial responsibility among Malaysians.

The association also continues to be steadfast in its mission to bridge the financial literacy gap and empower communities to embrace Takaful for a safer and better future.

In addition to the exhibition, MTA organised various community programmes, including Takaful Masuk Kampung in Kampung Samariang Batu, the T’Talk session with MTA's Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the launch of the MTA+ Kenyalang Chapter, Shape Your Future #FitFinances 3.0 in Lundu, and the Takaful4All Fun Run 2024.

The closing ceremony of the Sarawak Financial Literacy Carnival and Financial Literacy Month (FLM) 2024 was officiated by Bank Negara Malaysia Deputy Governor Adnan Zaylani Mohamad Zahid. The event was also attended by MTA CEO Mohd Radzuan Mohamed, Prudential BSN Takaful Berhad (PruBSN) CEO Wan Saifulrizal Wan Ismail, and other representatives from financial institutions.

Organised by Bank Negara Malaysia under the Financial Education Network (FEN) initiative, KCK aims to enhance financial literacy, empower communities, and emphasise the importance of financial management.

In his speech at the closing ceremony, Adnan said the carnival attracted more than 20,000 visitors and featured 40 exhibitors representing various financial institutions and agencies in Malaysia.

"I hope everyone will take advantage of the financial literacy initiatives introduced here and share with their family and friends the importance of prudent money management, avoiding excessive debt, and adopting smart and secure investment tips," he said.
