JDT ACADEMY CLAIMS SUPERMOKH CUP GLORY

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 18 (Bernama) -- Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) Academy emerged winners of the 2024 Supermokh Cup Football Championship after defeating defending champions Buriram United (UTD) 2-1 in the under-14 category (U-14) final today.

In the match at the National Sports Council (MSN) here, team captain Muhammad Fareez Danial Fadzly was the home team's toast after scoring two goals in the 19th and 57th minutes, respectively.

The visiting team, however, closed the gap with a goal from Taratap Ridking in the 70th minute, and the result remained 2-1 until the match's final whistle.

JDT head coach Rodolfo Villa admitted that his team's determination and dedication were why it defeated the defending champions today.

"Yes, it was a very competitive game, but we have an excellent team by adapting our plan in every game.

"My players were very focused and well prepared for the competition and they got the good result in the end." he told reporters after the match here.

Third place went to the U14 Dream team from Akademi Mokhtar Dahari (AMD), which defeated Young Champs from Reliance Foundation 2-1 for the third and fourth placing play-offs.

In the U-13 category, China's Zhejiang PFC took the honours after defeating AMD's Future team 1-0.

AMD's Dream team and Avispa Fukuoka from Japan were declared joint third-place winners after the third spot play-offs were called off.

Meanwhile, the National Football Development Programme's (NFDP) A team defended its U-12  title after disappointing Pattaya United 1-0 in the final.

Third place went to JDT Academy, which beat NFDP B on penalty kicks 4-2 after the two teams were tied goalless in full-time.
