SHAH ALAM, Nov 20 (Bernama) -- Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) is exploring the potential use of advanced water treatment technology incorporating artificial intelligence (AI), the Selangor State Legislative Assembly was told today.
State Infrastructure and Agriculture Committee chairman Izham Hashim said the technology is expected to be used for monitoring, predicting and detecting the quality of raw water sources from rivers before being treated at 34 water treatment plants in Selangor.
"The state government is always open to adopting AI, the Internet of Things (IoT), advanced analytics and remote sensors to assist in controlling water level detection (Smart Water Level) for early flood warnings and water quality (Smart Water Quality) to enhance productivity and efficiency in water management in Selangor.
"The state government is confident that a water management system supported by IoT, AI, and remote sensor technology can save water usage, reduce costs and contribute to environmental sustainability," he said.
He was replying to a question from Nushi Mahfodz (PN-Semenyih) on whether the state government plans to expand the use of AI and IoT technology for water level detection, early flood warnings and water quality monitoring.
