NEW DELHI, Nov 26 (Bernama) -- Twenty-seven Indian diaspora journalists from 11 countries are taking part in the 79th edition of the Know India Programme (KIP), a three-week initiative organised by the Indian government.
Shalini Sharma, the programme's coordinator, said the participants are from among others Malaysia, Mauritius, Singapore, Indonesia, Fiji, Sri Lanka, Kenya and New Zealand.
She said the programme, which runs from Nov 25 until Dec 13, aims to enhance participants' understanding of India, covering developments across various sectors such as economics, industry, education, culture, and science and technology.
“The primary goal of the KIP is to strengthen the connection between Indian diaspora youth and their ancestral homeland by deepening their knowledge of India,” Sharma told Bernama here yesterday.
She added that the participants will have the opportunity to learn about India's history, culture and civilisational values, while also gaining insight into the country's rapid technological advancements across diverse fields.
As part of the programme, participants will visit notable locations such as the Reserve Bank of India, the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service (SSIFS), India Gate, Kartavya Path, the National War Memorial, Parliament House & Library, the National Museum & Qutub Minar, the Taj Mahal, and the Press Trust of India.
